The tournament this past weekend at the Austin Convention Center was a combination of highly intense and well-coached teams. Every team played hard from beginning to end of each game. The tournament was a prelude to the Austin Toro's game later that afternoon so time was a factor. The Killeen Elite won the tournament despite splitting the games with the Centex Shooters. The champion was determined by which team had out scored the other and Killeen had scored two points more. I was really impressed with the coaches and how well they had prepared their teams. There were also some outstanding players from each team. On the Bulls team, Aaron Kovach was hitting NBA range 3 pointers consistently. Jaden Holden and Tristen Newman were also impressive. For the Centex Shooters, I was really impressed with Aaron Williams, who can shoot from every angle and got the only dunk of the tournament. Two other players that stood out were Daniel Jackson and Bradley Piper. For the Killeen Elite, Brian Long and Shane Johnson were beasts on the inside. They will give teams matchup problems all season long. Tony Barnes and Teron Davis were also impressive. Point guard play was impressive by all teams.
