Business Concept Statement
Nothin’ But Net (NBN) was created in response to the need for practice space and additional facilities to hold tournaments for area youth sports. NBN will address this need by providing a basketball and volleyball facility in the Central Texas area for local and national teams to compete. The proposed facility will have regulation size gyms which will enable NBN to hold tournaments and rent gym space for team practice year round. Our facility will host youth summer camps and serve as a training facility for athletes and referees. Adult league teams will also be able to utilize our facility.
Currently, there are approximately 150 community teams in Austin and the surrounding areas but only 3 churches and 4 recreational facilities in Austin that offer gym space for team practice. Although, the gym rental fees are reasonable, obtaining time slots at the churches and recreational facilities is extremely difficult because of the many other activities they host. The public schools gym rental guidelines are very restrictive and due to regulations, community teams are not allowed to use the gyms for practice.
Our facility will provide a dedicated space for team practice which would accommodate youth who have the desire to participate in sports and coaches who have the desire to give back to the community. Well planned and organized tournaments, in a permanent facility, with a set calendar of events will attract many community leaders, college recruiters and other national basketball organizations. This will provide an opportunity for greater exposure to recruiters and possible scholarships for college bound youth.
Nothin’ But Net will assist our kids in developing their physical skills, building self-confidence, and maintaining the mental endurance it takes to deal with the pressure and stresses in their daily activities. Our program will drive sports for social change by having tutors and mentors available to promote academics and increase social skills to produce well-rounded individuals.
